| Learn Modern Greek |
|
We understand how difficult it is to settle in a country when you don’t know the language. AIT offers lessons, at no charge, to help you get into the rhythm of life in Athens and enjoy its opportunities to the fullest.
|
| Social events/cultural activities/excursions |
The advantage of studying at AIT is that while you are obtaining a top-level internationally competitive degree, you have the unique opportunity to experience the cultural side of Greece.
AIT organizes one-day excursions for our students so that we can show you the modern and classical beauty of our country. There are also concerts, exhibits, and many other events that take place in Athens which may interest you. A trip to the beach maybe…, a group dinner at a local taverna in Plaka at the foot of the Acropolis….All the costs are covered by AIT.
We always welcome your suggestions for places you would to visit and will happily organize it for you. One of our recent excursions was to Delphi. Our international students and a number of our Greek students, made a first stop at the picturesque town of Arachova and as they continued to Delphi stopped several times to take pictures of the wonderful view. Once they arrived at Delphi they visited the museum before continuing to the ancient archeological site. The day was beautiful, the sky was clear and the olive groves below stretched to the sea. It is easy to understand why Delphi was chosen as home of the oracle and how it has become such a significant cultural site.
After a relaxing lunch at a local taverna in Galaxidi, located by the sea, the group was ready to return “home”. The rich social program during the 2007 annual Summer School included a visit to the ancient Oracle of Delphi, a sightseeing tour of Athens, a daily excursion to Egina island, a dinner in Plaka, and two swimming events. All these events allowed participants to relax and created a friendly atmosphere. International participants were particularly delighted to experience aspects of our rich ancient Greek heritage. During the 2008 carnival season, we arranged a party at a local club where everyone came dressed in amazing costumes. We all had great fun!
Have a look at our picture gallery for photos from various past events.

Students' Views
"Athens, Greece is one of the best places I have ever seen. Apart from the fact that during the first 1 or 2 semesters, the work load was so heavy that I barely had time to go around, I eventually realized how the Greek culture, food and way of life can taint your heart forever. I am so glad I went there for 16 months, and would never miss an opportunity to go there again (even if for a short while)."
